On October 29, at 19:00, the Magritte Restaurant will host the first wine dinner as part of the "Magritte beyond" series, a project that goes beyond the usual restaurant format and combines gastronomy with art, culture, cinema, wine and other areas. The first evening will be dedicated to the Magritte cuisine itself: chef Leonid Konobritsky will rethink the restaurant's familiar dishes, changing their shape, textures and serving, but preserving the recognizable character of each. The chef-sommelier Denis Leontiev selected the accompaniment for them, including Mantra Estate wines. Wine expert Sarmat Gabaraev will tell you more about their features and combinations with each position.
Magritte is Arkady Novikov's European restaurant in the Rossiya Hotel with a panoramic view of Zaryadye Park and the historical center of Moscow. The interior is inspired by the work of Rene Magritte, a surrealist artist who turned everyday objects into an excuse to look at the familiar differently. This idea became part of the restaurant's gastronomic concept and the basis for the first "Magritte beyond" dinner. Leonid Konobritsky will take the positions already familiar to the restaurant's guests and reassemble them, changing the shape, textures and details of the serving. The format is designed for 18 people: before each serving, the chef will come out to the guests, present the dish and tell them what has changed in a familiar position, why this particular form was chosen and how it relates to the general idea of Magritte.
The wine line of the evening will be composed by Mantra Estate, a brand from the Lefkadia Valley, which pays special attention to traditional winemaking methods and work with international grape varieties. Sarmat Gabaraev, ambassador of Mantra Estate, will present the positions selected for the evening and during the dinner will talk about the wines, their features and the logic of combinations with each course.
The evening will begin with Magnum Blanc de Blanc 2023, which will be a welcome wine and the first introduction to the Mantra Estate collection. It will be served with an escargot snail in an edible shell, a classic French combination reinterpreted through its shape: a crispy shortbread shell follows the outline of the shell. Next, Magnum Cuvée M Blanc de Blanc 2023 will be paired with goat cheese, strawberry jam and fresh truffle. The third wine will be Mantra Syrah Rosé 2025. It will be served with onion soup with mushrooms in three textures — the author's version of the French classic.
The fourth course will accompany Sauvignon Blanc 2025. The main dish will be a wellington of two fish with caviar berre blanc: salmon fillet and wild sea bass with spinach duxel baked in a golden puff pastry shell. The Wellington will be taken out into the hall as a whole and will be cut into portions when serving. The dinner will end with Magnum Rosé 2023 and apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream. It will be prepared in the classic French manner, but served directly into the hall: it will be flambed in front of the guests, after which it will be served immediately to the table.
The first "Magritte beyond" dinner will be an introduction to the series through the restaurant's own gastronomic identity. Familiar dishes will appear in an unusual form here, and the Mantra Estate wine selection will give you the opportunity to look at them from another angle — through the combinations that arise between cuisine and wine. You can become a part of the first evening of the series on October 29 at 19:00 by booking a table at the restaurant by phone +7 (499) 444-10-04. The cost of dinner for one guest is 18,900 rubles.
